I create song medicine & chant for transformation & healing.
I chant & sing sacred songs in yoga classes, workshops, kirtan concerts, festivals, retreats & special occasions.
I have been singing & dancing since I wiggled my way out of the womb. From the moment I could reach the keys, I studied classical piano. I enjoyed the spotlight so much that I got a B.F.A in Drama from Syracuse University. But it was in NYC in 1998 where I discovered the healing power of yoga & chanting.
My very first yoga teachers chanted at the end of class while we rested on our backs in savasana, a classical closing posture. It was here, sweaty, exhausted & discouraged about my aching body that I first experienced the power of sound healing. The Sanskrit mantras awakened me to a place in my soul I had not experienced before. I knew these were my first steps on the pathway home to myself.
My immersion, in 1998, into the world of chanting became further life-altering when I began singing a cappella with Circle of Soul, a group of soul-seekers, exploring chants from a multitude of traditions. I came alive & dove even deeper. I studied yoga & chanting in the yogic traditions with TKV Desikachar in India & with Nicolai Bachman & Ian Boccio in Atlanta, GA. From 2011-2017, I sang mystical mantra harmonies with Jocelyn Rose in a partnership we called Mantra MA. Listen to our rendition of Lokah Samastha Sukino Bhavantu here. I have been a featured kirtan artist & presenter numerous times in the Chantlanta Sacred Music Festival and the Dirty South Yoga Festival. I have sung with national kirtan artists such as Brenda McMorrow, Girish, & David Newman. I love collaborating with vibrant chanting communities.

DEBUT ALBUM - OPEN TO RECEIVE 🎵
Open body & soul, heart & mind to receive life’s blessings
In February 2022, I released my debut album of sacred songs, Open to Receive.
Early in the pandemic, 2020, alone in my home studio with my harmonium, I sang sacred music on rotation to save myself. This is how I breathed fresh energy into my spirit to keep myself afloat during those initial strange introspective months.
Then, in 2021, I followed a burning desire to share this song medicine & recorded 10 songs with the incomparable Colin Agnew. Colin brilliantly translated my song ideas into fully realized song creations. He stacked my harmonies, laid down incredible percussion & called in talented musicians to support new arrangements. I will be forever grateful for him & this experience of recording.
Shonali’s debut album carries a potent charge linking all of us directly to 'source', to beneficent universal energies & ideas greater than ourselves, which realign us to foundational truths, ultimately refueling & refreshing our overwhelmed souls.
Shonali hopes that these 10 sacred songs remind you that you are always connected to wholesome spirit-affirming energies. These ever-present energies may be relied upon even when all other sources of support seem to have collapsed.
May your soul be soothed.

I do not work directly with hospice, but I am an ally. A death doula’s presence fills the empty spaces left by hospice workers who often have too many patients & are limited in the amount of time they can actually spend bedside with families.

Most folks within Atlanta proper (ITP inside the perimeter) & Decatur are within my travel zone.
If I have to travel much more than 30 minutes, there will be additional fees.
